Fish are small but I feel smeel of the small stream 100/100 points :-)

I tried Armor All wipes to clean 3 flylines for the first time today because I couldn't be bothered a) waiting for propietary fly line cleaner to arrive in the mail b) paying the $7-$10 - not including postage- that it costs to get it. I have to say the Armor all certainly did a good job of getting the muck off and the line felt a lot slicker once I was done. The true test will be to see how it fishes...For those who are concerned about damage to the line etc, my gut feeling is that by the time you've finished the residual amount on the line is probably so small that it most likely won't hurt anything. Could always be proven wrong, however....

I've been looking fo

I've been looking forward to trying this method and finally did try it recently. It was a complete failure...my own fault no doubt. I used a bubble float from Cabelas. The tube in the center tapers from wide to narrow. I was not sure which end should be nearest the swivel. A customer review from a buyer at Cabelas (on line) said the wide end should be nearest the swivel. I guess the swivel I used was too small because it ended up being jammed 1/2 way down the center tube, then the line was cut on the sharp edge of the plastic tube. I guess the 'tube pearl' was needed....Dohh! What is a 'Tube Pearl"? I assume it is something that stops the swivel and protects the line from severing and having a failure as I had. I could not find the term 'Tube Pearl' anywhere. Do you know which end should be used and why? I have some colored beads that I occasionally use on a Texas type rig. Should I used one of these? Even these don't seem completely safe. The small holes on the beads are relatively sharp and may cut the knot as well, it seems. A more complete explanation would be greatly appreciated. I understand the idea. I just don't understand the mechanics. Thank you very much.

I haven't seen nice royalty free-fly fishing graphics. The best ones are the Dave Whitlock drawings, I guess he sells them by email.

Has anyone heard of a process of cementing reflective beads to the stalks of the mono, then applying the epoxy finish? I bought some beautiful amber epoxy eyes on the internet which reflect sunlight and absolutely drive larger bonefish wild. Unfortunately, I can not get them anymore. The fly shop where I purchased the eyes lost their source, but told me this is how their supplier made them. Would I get the same effect by applying amber model paint to the stalk before the melting process? I have tried "store-bought" Puglisi eyes in a red painted "flat" finish, but they do not have the same effect on the the fish. Thank you!!

May be it will be better, if Martin fix the sentence in step 3. Not to be "Make a loop by splitting the end of the Antron.", but "Tie the end of the yarn back on the tail of the fly thus creating a loop".

Regarding my mono 3D "hovering" eyez...
With only 1 appendage the "lollipop" effect would easily come undone...
Once I started crimping the mono to create the "V" and applying acrylic or epoxy to both sides of the eye [plus a little on the leg] the deal was sealed and they are durable and stay tied in place... the triangle formed creates a fairly rigid connection and the "encapsulated" eyez stay put...

Neat idea with the eyes! Like you I never was a big fan of the totally glued over heads, and the mono-solution seems to solve that.

Have you had problems with the eyes being beat off? I have tied some shrimp with eyes on mono stalks and it's happened more than once that the eyes have been missing after a few hours of fishing.

Rough casting and contact with rocks and weed may have been the reason...

The length of the legs and orientation can be adjusted and, once positioned, the tag ends are cut flush...
3D Eyez or Jungle Cock... or whatever works... I'm a big fan of [i:60af30b9b4]eyez[/i:60af30b9b4]...
