Hi GFF team,

I'm very interested in this book but for some reason it is not available or very difficult to get in Europe. However during my research I found one more book of the same authors, "Shrimp & spey flies for salmon and steelhead"
I just wanted to ask whether you know this book and how the content differs from the one you reviewed here.
Thanks and Regards,
Tom

That nailless nail knot is quite handy! A few weeks ago I took my brand new bamboo rod out to fish for the first time. Stopped and bought a line on the way to meet my friends. Got there, took delivery of reel in the parking lot where we were embarking on our creek trip. I realized that I needed a loop in the end of the line in order to attach my furled leader. The nailless nail knot secured a thoroughly adequate loop that performed well all day and has since been enhanced with some Loon UV Wader Repair.

Hi This is Barry Kent, I have been living in Florida, USA for the past 19 years.
Your website came to my attention and especially the piece about the Transkei fly stamps.
I have put up a website to expain to everyone the true story of how these stamps came into existence.
goto www.fishingflystamps.com for more info. I plan to expand this site soon. to explain and show the other events that took place during my 20 years in Southern Africa. I have never stopped tying but now I tie saltwater and FD salmon flies for framing. Wish I had known earlier that one of you was in Florida last month. We have OUTSTANDING backcountry saltwater fishing here in Central Florida.

When i tie my BWO's I use a shorter tail with moose. I was wondering why you use such a long tail?

Guys,

The mailbox has already seen the first inquieries about this year's summit, and yes, there will be one. But unfortunately I have been a little backtracked this spring, and haven't had time to think about places and dates, but my guess is that we are going for a setup, which is similar to the two previous years.

I will start planning something as soon as possible and announce some dates as soon as I have a confirmation on a place to stay.

This year will be diferent in one way: I will set a maximun number of participants. I'm not firmly set on anything yet, but we don't want this to grow too large. The rules will be that last year's participants will have priority and after they have had their chance we will fill up on a first come first served base.

I will return with more info.

What you're missing is the ability to re-create the best dubbing wax ever invented, instead of using the cheap, sticky, soft garbage other companies sell as dubbing "wax".

Great flies. I love Thundercreeks too, Bob. As for proportions, I somehow remember that the head should be 1/5 of the fly and that the hair should not extend beyond the hook shank by more than 1/3 of the shank length. Have you come across those proportions, too?

I use the Fish Pimps and absolutely love them. They do not interfere in either forward or back casting!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
