I am a rookie at fly tying but I must say that I am having a hard time seeing the difference between bwo and pmd. The bodies are both green. what am I missing?

Make my day! Last night was my first real attempt at tying a Muddler and only had some natural bucktail. After a few false starts I ended up with a "2 clumper" that actually resembled a muddler with room for improvement but it was for sure a keeper.
I fish small creeks in Middle Tn for smallmouth (and Bass in general) and have been tying a lot of Closure Minnows. I went to a favorite Greenie creek this afternoon just to get out. It gives up some of both Large and Smallies. With not much happening with my Closures I tied on my Muddler. Within 30 minutes I had released 6 Largemouth 13"-15". They took it off the top with great vigor.
I didn't know what to expect and really thought that it would sink like a rock (not sure why) but it floated better than I ever imagined. (Are they suppose to float?)
Im sure I'll be tying a bunch of these and thanks for the great tying instructions. Once I saw it spin it comes together pretty quick. I can imagine lots of variation coming. Had a blast.

Hey guys and gals,
We hope to be with you again this year - indeed, due to a generous offer, we hope to make it a longer stay in Denmark this year. :D
Time is booked in the diary, even though I don't know the exact date yet. We are really looking forward to seeing friends old and new.
Regards,
Les and Nan Austin

WOW! When you tie your head how many "bunchs" do you tie on for this size hook. Its really a beautiful streamer.
I'm just learning to make a muddler and can sure appreciate this one.

Well this was a BIG help.Tied my first and theres a lot of room for improvement but by golly I'll fish it! Your pics and instruction really cleared up some things. Practice make perfect.

Good looking fly!
No offense intended at all but I have to wonder if those white wings are even necessary. It appears as though they are not visible to an underwater view. Nonetheless I plan on fishing them for bluegill here locally.
TKS Martin...like you, i do like to overpower my rod.
My guess is that if the long belly has a belly 40 to 50% longer than a usual WF
it means you will have serious problems loading a rod with 9 meters line off the rod tip.
In softer tip rods that would be good with short casts and presentation will work almost like a double tapper would.
But with harder rod tips, i think it would be a bit difficult to load the rod for a shoot cast. wouldn' it ?!?!

Well that means that i should be open again now then!
I think that more countries should have closed season during the spawning. The swedish arcipelago could win a lot from it.
It's midsummer feast in sweden now and the fishing is running slow due to high temperatures but im going out to do some night fishing next week.

Oh if you wanna know where i was this one should do the trick  the land/hills is sweden. It was taken at sunrise with a little north-eastern wind and the water was cristal clear. But i didn't see any action that morning, evenings were better for me.

Well, ... extremely difficult to guess the spot you fished, thereôs only the sea and the sun... It could have been anywhere. But good pics, though.
The "soup" was pretty muddy when I got there, visibility less than 30 cm... :?

My dear boy, for anyone to start & finish such a fly & get copliments from one of my favorate fly
tyers, Bryant Freeman, & the couple little minor mistakes that were made are so easily fixed.
So, let's shorten the thread back on the eye a little, put another plus the one that is here in this
picture side by side. I know you have talent, show me your next version of the same fly.
