Hi Bob, Your web page is outstanding and it shows all the places I fish on the Beaverkill and area rivers and streams. I caught my first trout on the Beaverkill standing on Piano Rock at Hendrickson Pool .This area I was the person that developed the newer version of the Thorax Dry Fly that is the most popular tied these days and during this time I develope Overton's Wonder Wax .. I now live in Libby, Montana that is much like the Roscoe area .
So I thank you for what you have done here...Glenn Overton

You can find tubes and tube kits at most fly tying shops, you can use q-tips, the ones with the hollow plastic tubes, or you can use tubing (plastic or metal) found at hobby stores. Most common sizes to use for tube flies are 1/8" or 3/32" OD (outside diameter). If you are using a metal tube, you will have to line it with a hollow plastic tube to prevent cutting your leader.

Thanks for wonderful flies that have some of the neatest symmetrical head wraps I've seen. this is the page that inspired me to start a Soft hackled or Winged wet fly swap in my favorite online forum. OzarkAnglers.com

Kazza,
That's exactly what the image is supposed to illustrate! If you read the accompanying article you will find that it deals with the whole issue of getting good and sharp pictures of jumping fish.
Martin
you need to have a shorter shutter speed time this will ctach the picture in the moment not in movement.
Composition is just perfect. Post-processing with sepia tone (?) enhances the picture by depicting the modern outfit in a retro mood, while preserving some of the tarpon's natural colors.

have used this type of fly for years and have learned a couple of tricks beginners can use.
use different colors of foam from the craft stores grip any sheet in your vice, needle nose pliers, any device that will hold foam and trim around with a razor you got a ready made body or wing. the way you tie this to the hook allowes you to make a fly with a conventional hackle or to wrap your hackle between the hook and the foam and you have a para application. something with a long taper; long may fly bodies.

Hi Martin,
nice article and very fine pictures.
You are really a lucky guy to have this atmosphere nearly as often as you'll please.
Two weeks ago I met Paul and Steve in Abenrah and we had a little of that feeling while fishing round the area.
By the way - have you already made up your mind regarding the GFF-summit 2007?

...nice to hear the fish are hungry again... This week I'll give it a try at last! However, it is a new place - Faro island nearby Mon, so I dont expect fish, but fresh air at least. ...just cannot wait to wade in...

I have a Simms G3 Guide Jacket that I bought for US$399 and it is NOT WATERPROOF! It is fine under a little rain but I have been wearing it her in Oregon and after one hour or more in heavy rain it is wet EVERYWHERE. All the pockets are wet inside. My phone is wet, camera is wet, fly boxes wet. Not waterproof. I went back to the shop I bought it at was told that that is all the protection that should be expected from Simms jackets and that they are not to be considered totally waterproof. Very discouraging.
