Hmmmm....If you don't want to carry that around I can help...but I wont guarantee you will see them again.... :D

...sorry.....I got a 7D as well but not so many nice lenses..... :(

Hi Serge, you can use whatever you like to make the body of the fly, i just prefere to add some attraction to the fly, using the UV dub, it makes the fly "glow" in the water, however i've tied flies without it that works (almost) as well. For the back you can use EP fibers, i take two different shades of brown and brush them together in order to create a sort of spotted back.

Nice way to converse a non-fly fishing motiv to one by adding a piece of fly fishing tackle. I'll give it 4. A fresh caught salmon on the grass would make it a 5, erhh... I mean 3, just so the catch and release purists won't be outraged :-)

Yes,yes this is how it's supposed to be. I'll give it 5. Had the anglerdude been fighting a trout it would have provided that tad of intensity which a 6 requires!

Serge,

You may use Ultra Hair or Kinky Fiber instead of Ultra Hair. Be aware, that Ultra Hair is more fine and you may find even better substitutes.

UV-dubbing has other names like Flash-dub or Aura-dubbing. You can also use SLF Prism, tan, which is a new dubbing having this UV-look, but actually reflects light as in a prism.

I hope you find the materials you are looking for.

Both Saturday and Sunday morning and early afternoon are open right now for me but I know a few others are going to get back to me so plans may change, but will confirm as well.

Maybe Martin wants to come too.

The target species would be perch and pike. Once awhile you would by-catch a sea trout as well while spinning for perch, but of course those are closed for targeting (or just keeping?) this time of the year.

Here are a few photos from last winter at Tryggevælde. I've never really caught any gigantic pike, all the ones have been a couple of kg, but I have seen some big ones rolling around.

A day trip to Tryggevælde River can certainly be arranged. :) Maybe others are also interested?[/quote:4562fef781]

If I am not on a business trip to Slovakia this weekend, we may give it a chance. I´ll let you know as soon as I am sure. What kind of fish can be caught there?

The day fee for Tryggevælde River is 75 Kroners (25 Kroners between June and August I think). You can either purchase it online on this page or at the gas station just before you arrive at the river.

It's not bad, we like it there as we rarely see people fishing it, at least on the stretch where we fish. On Sunday we fished the mid stretch and didn't encounter any anglers. On the lower end, we saw around half a dozen anglers at the end of the day. The lower end towards the river mouth is more heavily vegetated with only a few access points, but they tend to be dry banks. The middle section is wide open and can be accessed with ease, but it is rather muddy and saturated with water so waders are necessary. When it gets colder, the bank is more solid and walking around is easier, but fingers are colder. :?

Ozzie fishes with me in Montana and I'll say he is the most dedicated fish photographer and fisherman I've seen in 30 years of guiding. Wonderfull films for fly fishers!

[quote:281e582a83="Rodney"]Hi Vanuz, my fishing opportunities are fairly limited as I only have access of a car on weekends sometimes and the primary purpose of my visit here is to spend time with girlfriend. Last Sunday was our first trip out at Tryggevælde River (that's basically where we fish most of the time, as we do not know many spots). I'll go whenever I can, weekdays I can go while she's at school too. Located in Valby. :)[/quote:281e582a83]

Well, even though I have a car 24/7, I spent the whole week at work. It is dark already when I am coming back home. Thus, I am also free on weekends only :(
... btw, no problem putting you both in my car and go fishing if you like. I have never fished "a river" in Denmark, and I´d love to...Is there any special day-card needed out at Tryggevælde River? I am based in Hellerup.

I am using any shiny or red coloured streamers, preferably with a golden head. Perch is my favourite species, it is by no means a fastidious fish, it basicaly grabs anything that moves! You just need to find the spot. I wish I could take to one of my favorite perch lake near CPH, hovewer, the season is over. Where have you been fishing these days?

Igmar,

it may turn, if the legs are too long. The weight on the hook shank is added to prevent turning and keeping the right position. The ones I have tied lately works perfectly well.

Les,

good idea - even though the result requires you to be some kind of exhibitionist.

Kasper,
Thank you for this pattern. I heard some great stories of this fly. But does this pattern turn hook down? Or does the bunch of Antennas prevent this turning? That's one of mine main problems with a lot of shrimp patterns, they always turn back down and that is not so realitstic. Greetings from Holland and hope to see you along the Dannish coast. Igmar

Try slicing your foam with a paper slicer - photo-cutter - "precision cutter". It works a treat, is quick and accurate.

Kasper,
The Honey Shrimp and eyes articles (and the Mysis Shrimp) are superb, thank you. Have just made myself a little drying rack for painted eye-stalks - and for the epoxied eyes when I get that far. Just a small piece of wood with two lines of holes 1.5mm diameter. Works a treat. Dip each stalk-end in the paint and pop it in the rack to dry. 14 eyes all looking at me - scary!

Thanks again.
Les

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
