[quote:5052399002="DistantStreams"]This evening was one of those days. For those that have experienced it - will know what I am talking about - For those that haven't - will think I'm jibbering on a bit...

Phew. Just what dreams are made off![/quote:5052399002]

Ripley,

Great to hear that others are experiencing it too! We're having some very good fishing these days, and it seems that the fish have really started feeding. Water temperatures are slowly approaching 7-8-9 deg C, and that's probably what has sparked all the activity.

We're seeing catches of 6, 8 and 10 fish per angler in a day, which is FAR beyond what we usually expect from a Danish sea trout trip.

My last trip brought six to hand.Let's hope it keeps on like that for a while. I'm trying again tomorrow.

I go along with all that Martin. My dunked camera is as good as ever. However I leave the camera strap through the corner of the ziplock and my vest pocket and can extract it very quickly.

Hello
I flyfished Italy for 3 weeks. Some of the best flyfishing you could wish for. Virtually all of the Appenines have trout. From Castel de Sangro in the south to the Northern Appenines. North of Florence. All the mountains on the French, Swiss borders to the Dolomites in the East. There are numerous fly fishing clubs in Italy. Get hold of their aqautic society. They should be able to help you.Enjoy

I think you'll find it's more of a flower arranging club with visits to the forest now and then to select wild mushrooms.

It sounds good. If I have a time I will come too. But it is difficult to say nowdays.

PS: To be honest, czech beer is the best :D

Interesting article and thanks for the link at the end (more good information). This is a new technique for me to try and lots of new patterns to tie.

Try some tiny featherwings on these small hooks. Use Whiting Hen hackles, they have a slim profile and good feather density. I tie them down to #14. An all white feather wing for a Black Ghost or Dr. Oatman works real well. Greys and grizzly hackles will expand your list of possible patterns. Easy to tie, very attractive and surprisingly useful.

HI Benjamin Arnold,

From your discription, it appears that what you have in hand is a Japanese made casting/fly combo set of bamboo rod. With the
"short-fat" mid section - long tip 30" --- you get a casting rod
"short-fat" mid section - "long-mid" mid section - Long tip --- you get a fly rod. The fly rod setup may have 2 tips so all your 5 sections are accounted for. I have 2 sets of such combo rods thats why I am quite familiar with it.

GFF'ers,

From the feedback I read here I think that June is our best bet. Sufficiently far into the future to enable planning, a fair chance of stable weather, fairly good fishing options and anough people having been positive to ensure me that something could be worked out.

I will propose a set of dates - a weekend mid to late June - and try to line up something practical regarding camp, cabin and other things.

I will return with more details.

Martin

Hi Guys,
option 3 would be best for me.
It does not matter where.
I will bring some Dutch Beer!!

Excellent article, Martin. The Minolta G500 digicam I just treated myself to came with a neck strap, and I must say that is a godsend. I took pictures all day long when I was fishing, and it was simply a matter of grabbing the camera, turning it on, and clicking away. I was one of those guys who used to carry mine in double ziplocks. No more. One thing I would suggest is that the owner of the camera get a little clip to slide on their next strap to keep the camera from dangling when you lean over. I don't like to keep the camera in my wader tops (steamy in there), so leaving it out but clipping it to my shirt of vest keeps things in order.

I say option two beacuse im going doing my 10months long military service starting 31of july. I also think we should take the good thing with july in mind, sitting on a beach, resting, lying about fishes we never caught and drinking beer during the hot summerdays. (ofcourse it will rain)

For me June or September are good
Low budget / camping perfect
Pike fishing can be fun
I'll be coming from Belgium so 2000 km back & forth and might bring a friend along from Paris and I'll bring some belgian beer! :D

Guys,

This sounds like a fun idea. Would love the opportunity to fish in Denmark again and meet up with a few like minded fisher folk.

June or August would suit me best, May- Bonefish, July- Salmon, September- Getting Married. Hmnnn! Cant wait!

Low budget option sounds great. Future Missus busy getting rid of my spare cash!

Since you got this far …

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
