Hi

Great article....one question, is there any relationship between the diameter of the amnesia running line and the shooting head to ensure proper turnover. i.e. 25lb for a #7 rod/ 9wt shooting head....so does that mean 30lb amnesia for #8 rod/10wt shooting head....or should I just get a life !!

All the best

Sorry about the triple copies of comments, but we certainly only send out one per notification! I have a fairly detailed log of all mails sent by the system, and actually there hasn't been sent a single one to the mail-address you have used for this comment.

I subscribe to several comment threads myself and only get one per update, so something must happen underway from us to you.

Iceland is a blast - fantastic landscapes and world class trout fishing.
It doesn't need to be that expensive either.
I joined a trip with this guide based in Switzerland last year.
Very decently priced and just awesome.... !!!!

When I originally commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Cheers!

A great read, and yes it does focus on PA watersheds mostly, but the insects represented in this work hatch all over the east coast as well as west and south, so applying the knowledge gained to my home waters here in the great state of Maine was simple enough. All in all a very helpful book for me and the patterns were somewhat simple to tie as I have tied most of them and fished them also. Buy it if you want to learn some old new patterns and techniques this is a good place to start.

Way to go I feel the same way, I would never ditch my poles for anything its my passion. I also read that peta article because I am doing a research project for school about whether sport fishing is cruel. When I read the article they wrote I laughed because its so full of crap. I know true anglers would never rip out a fishes guts, thats why you cut the line!

I would also love to see the measurements on this page. soon if possible, this would be an awsome side project while i finish my degree in precision machining.

Hi, I'm studying precision machining at Renton Technical College in Washington State. Me and a fellow student are planning on machining a pair of light weight fly reels as a side project over the next 2 quarters in school. Im just starting to research schematics, trying to find blueprints for a reel, or where to begin when it comes to drawing up my own blueprints if neccesary. Any advice on getting started would be greatly appreciated. We have access to cnc lathes and milling machines, and are hoping to be done with the pair before our graduation in august.

Davie, I'm an old flytyer fisherman from Trout Creek, Mi.. Your tying style is the same as what I grew-up with. Your instruction has opened many childrens eyes to a sport of a life time. Keep up the good work and remain loyal to your fans.

Hi, my name is Charles, and I would like some help in finding a fly-tyer from Japan who ties a floating Minnow, similar to the Iwai minnow but with a longer body, it is made from mylar in blue and also green and filled with poly ethylene. If someone has a link to Japanese fly-tyer or photos of floating minnows I would love to hear from you.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
