Baitfish flies

In this fly tying tutorial, we welcome back guest tier Chuck Furimsky. Many know of Chuck from his creation of The Fly Fishing Show, but few know of his advanced tying abilities.

Bob Triggs is a well-respected fishing guide from the Olympic Peninsula in north-western Washinton State.

A micro Intruder fly mixed with a baitfish best describes this one. This I a goto fly when swinging to fish who eat baitfish. For most of the Great Lakes steelhead, this is it!

A small baitfish pattern suitable for most predators - not least Baltic sea trout.

I recently came up with a small jigging type of minnow pattern for someone who wanted a few tied up. After tying it, I realized it would be perfect for jigging for panfish.

I had one of my subscribers ask me to tie up a few of these for him. They are good flies, and I have tied them up for him in the past. He said they were effective and durable, and wanted more.

This is a popular fly! In the last few weeks, I have been asked to tie this in different color patterns.

This little bait fish imitation is one of my most productive salt water patterns. Very quick to tie and very realistic in the water.

This fly works awesomely for bass. I have tied it in many color combos already. One perch coloration, a baby brown trout coloration, and now a baby rainbow coloration.

Well lets be honest here, this is not the easiest fly in the world to tie. However, the versatility of it, and the effectiveness is absolutely amazing!

Years ago, my cat Mags, got under my feet and I ended up stepping on the hair of his tail.
