Here we go!
Fox and Squirrel with Rusty Brown Blue.

I have resisted tying all the patterns listed 38 plus the extras within the book's text but let's begin

I am using for all these flies in the collection a size 12 hook I got here.

The hook was suggested by Dr. Paul Gaskell as a solid option, not in the vintage realm that has the size and shape of Cutcliffe's favorite hooks - Hutchinson Kirby bends.

The ingredients are:

Thread: primrose or light yellow silk
Body: 50/50 mix of Fox and Squirrel. In 1863 the squirrel in the UK was only one species the Eurasian red which is now protected due to the American Grey squirrel has taken over as an invasive. You can just use Red fox fur but try to get a mix of some of the darker parts of a fox skin.
Hackle: Rusty brownish blue

For the real method Cutcliffe used see this video. https://youtu.be/MmPK-QnI6-o

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
