Beiss Fun

When talking about the scandinavian salmon flies and especially the modern type tied on weighted tubes, one cannot avoid the classic swedish "Beiss Fly". Originally, it was invented by Ulf Sil for the large salmon and sea run browns in river Mörrum, and it has proven its worth over and over again. The colors match especially well with the dark water the river gets through its flow through the large Swedish forests. The technique of dividing the wing into several smaller bundles (up to 5) gives the fly its characteristic drop-shaped wing, and tied on a short weighed tube it creates a fly that could get down in the water even when the current is strong. We have had the skilled Danish flytyer and flyfisherman Casper Hansen in the studio to demonstrate his take on the classic Beiss fly – but with a little twist.
