Power pro as a tippet
Forums:
Fly fishing - Fish Better
I fish a small river sometimes for pike and smallmouth bass, and i use 50# power pro as a tippet to guard against bite offs. i was just curious if this would affect the number of bites , depending on if it was a surface or subsurface fly. i dont think it will make a whole lot of difference, especially in cloudy water, but this river can get awfully clear, and the smallies and pike can be as wary as trout on some days.

Good people, I know that some of you have cancelled. But just in case I have kept you on the mailinglist for this final time. The rest of my communication will go out to the confirmed participants only. The first few hurdles seems to be overcome. We have been set up in the hostel (final confrmation still missing, but I'm expecting that any time now).

Communicating with Guides

About the Global FlyFisher
Firstly my apologies if the Subject line was a tad intriguing. It was deliberately meant to be purely to get you to read this. In October - sandwiched between some Striped Bass fishing off Montauk and Salmon fishing on one of Lake Ontario's feeder streams - I'm targeting Red Drum from Morehead City on North Carolina's Outer Banks. I've found a seemingly good fly fishing guide and paid the deposit for the charter, as I always do, in American Express US $ Travelers Cheques. And there are absolutely no problems.

Frankfurt/Main - someone interested in sharing my journey
Forums:
GFFsummit 06
I start my long journey in Frankfurt am Main and my way brings me along Kassel, Hannover, Hamburg, Flensburg and so on. If I'm traveling alone or if someone else would axcept it, I would start the journey on Thursday or even Wednesday and take a longer break on my favourite eldorado - aebelo. Sure, I would also be interested in finding a partner, where I am the co-driver. If someone is living along my route, please contact me, may be we find a joint solution. Please answer at Florian.Vogt@areva.com, because I can't use the forum every day. Please don't misuse my mail-adress...

GFF-summit people, A few have cancelled but more have joined. We are now 29 on the list. You guys who cancelled are also in on this mail, just in case... I write to you again to get a status for your participation and how you intend to stay the nights here. As you might remember I asked you to return to me with an indication of whether you would be interested in sharing a room in a hostel with some of the rest of us, and the replies to that answer were fairly few. I have listed them here: http://globalflyfisher.com/about/summit2006/#persons

Sea Trout in Vejle Fjord
Forums:
Fly fishing - Fish Better
Hello, I am coming to Vejle in the midle of September. Will have some time for fishing, so I am tying all kind of Fredes, Magnuses and shrimps now. And studying GFF of course ;) But I haven't found any information regarding the fishing spots in Vejle Fjord or surrounging waters... Such a big coast, so little time to try it out. Will have two or three fishing days, so I want to put my fly directly to the fish nose :D Can you drop me some info please? thanks in advance, vytautas http://www.flyfishing.lt

Seatrout gear
Forums:
Fly fishing - Fish Better
Hi everyone, I have been searching the forum for recent posts on this item but couldn't find it. Sorry if this is again a question which already has been answered. I was wondering who can tell me what a good generic seatrout gear would be. I mean; rod (size and #), fly line, reel, leader and tippet material? I will be most likely be fishing at Fyn. Cheers, Lino

Old ABU double hander
Forums:
Fly fishing - Fish Better
Hello guys, I just "won ( actually, shamelessy sniped... ) an old ABU 12 footer for #9/10 lines. It looks like one of those late 70s/early 80s graphites...I know you'll say; " what the hell were you thinking?" and so on, but it reminded me of when I was a kid and I used to droole on the old ABU Svangsta cataloques...good old days:wink:. Anyway, does anyone have fished one of these old sticks? I would appreciate any info on line pairing, suggested grains, head lenght and profile,etc.... Thanks to all, as always, Emilio.

Fly Tying Videos meet the Podcast - and Skips Dad is there!
Forums:
Fly tying - Tie Better
Jim Stuard and I have created something of a fly fishing break-through. We've released a series of fly tying video podcasts that are, AFAIK, the first on the Internet. An extension of a monthly fly tying column for Federation of Fly Fishers affiliate club The Buckeye United Fly Fishers, the project has taken on a life of its own with eight episodes currently released and available through Appleââ¬â¢s iTunesâ⢠web site. A new episode is added each month.

Hey, I can certainly collect anyone from the following airports. Billund Esbjerg The following railways stations: Kolding Middelfart Ejby No need for Odense the accommodation is right outside the station. I can also offer rides to and from the fishing areas. I have room for 4 persons and ample baggage. One or two days, even more, I can take those interested to the streams and rivers of Jutland for grayling and brown trout. All I ask is something towards the gas for these trips. Again - 4 people max per trip. Of course, the same room for sea trout. First come first serve I guess! Ripley

People, A couple of the participants have asked whether they could bring their wives, and sure that will be no problem as I see it. My girlfriend has also showed some interest, and there should be plenty of room and some opportunities to shop, walk the beach or even fish. Martin

GFFsummit Update
Forums:
GFFsummit 06
GFF Summit People, We're well into August now, and the number of participants showing interest in the GFF Summit seems to have leveled out somewhere around the number 26. We have people from several countries, and I'm sure we will have a great trip. Now I have started thinking about the practical arrangements. Svend Hansen - one of the Danes joining in - has looked into a place to stay, and one of his friends has offered us a hostel at a very good price. I think it's a very worthy alternative to a camping site.

Blue Chironomids?
Forums:
Patterns
Some of the fellows at the FlyBC website have been talking about blue chironomids. I've tyed up a few and was wondering about peoples thoughts on these little bugs. I tie some soft hackle patterns with blue peacock breast feathers and they work well, so I guess a blue chironomids could work also.
