#43-2013 Silver Jungle Streamer - Gary Fraser #43-2013 Silver Jungle Streamer - Gary Fraser

Tied by: Gary Fraser

Originated by: Gary Fraser based on the Silver Jungle wet fly

Hook: Mustad 9575

Thread: Orange 8/0

Tail: Orange crystal flash

Body: Silver holographic flat tinsel

Rib: Silver oval tinsel

Thorax: Orange floss or seal dubbing

Hackle: Grizzly hen hackle

Wing: Natural polar bear hair or other white hair tied short

Eye: Jungle cock nail

Head: Orange

Notes: Gary was hit with the inspiration to tie the Silver Jungle Streamer after seeing it in a blog post by Don Bastian. Gary was drawn to the fly because of the orange tones in the fly. Orange is an important colour for Gary, and he puts a lot of confidence into orange patterns for fishing the salmon runs found throughout Cape Breton. Gary ties several variations of the pattern including one featuring a muddler head. The fly proved to be a success even with less than ideal conditions for salmon fishing, and we are expecting some great results for the 2013 season.

You can find a step by step guide for the pattern on Gary's

Hi Gary;
I remember our communication after I posted that Silver Jungle wet fly, the recipe is from Ray Bergman's book Trout. Always liked that pattern, it's nice to see it here on Streamers365. Congratulations! Nice work!

Thanks and Yes Don your wet fly 'Silver Jungle" led me to this pattern. It has done very well for me and my friends that have used it on trout and Atlantic Salmon.

Barry my friend best of luck on your trip. I hope it leaves you bent and I am looking forward to your pics already....

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
