Tag: Silver flat braid
Body: Chinese red UNI-wool
Rib: Silver flat braid
Belly: White bucktail
Wing: 2 badger hackles flanked by long jungle cock nails
Collar: Red hackle
Throat: Golden pheasant crest
Cheek: Long red golden pheasant body feather then lemon wood duck flank
Topping: White peacock herl dyed red
Eye: Jungle cock dyed yellow

Notes: In the 1930's an angler named Pat Curry developed a pattern that would go on to become the grand daddy of Irish shrimp flies. The original pattern included a strip of red swan tied in as a veiling that is now rarely seen. Davie included this element of the original using a white peacock dyed red. You can also see all the other elements of the original throughout Davie's adaptation and a couple extra materials tied in for style.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
