Here we will be tying the classic pattern of the mighty majestic fly, Alexandra. The Alexandra fly originated in Scotland in the 1860s, and is know as Lady of the Lake. Alexandra was named after an Englishman Major William Greer Turle, to honour Alexandra, Princess of Wales. The Alexandra is supposed to imitate a small fry or baitfish, and the beautiful peacock swords are really doing the job there to make it look pretty. The fly Alexandra turned out to be so effective for trout that it was banned on many English waters. I personally like the fly a lot, it's pretty and it catches fish! What more can you ask for?
