Black & Yellow Magog Smelt Variant

No comments yet

The Maggot Smelt is originally a streamer-pattern that came out of Montreal and was designed to imitate the favorite landlocked salmon food on Lake Memphremagog, located between Canada and Vermont. Originally the Magog Smelts colorscheme was white, yellow and purple with a red false hackle, a colorcombination that proven to be very succesfull for both salmon, sea-run-browns and trous. The reason is a combination of the materials and the lightness in the fly, the wing is made of bucktail which gives the fly a fantastic movement in the water that imitates small baitfish when fished in the current. in this video we have put danish flytyer and flyfisher Ronny Lagoni Thomsen behind the vise to demonstrate his bid on the Magog Smelt in his own favorite colorscheme that matches his local rivers perfect - and for sure catches trout.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
