Early Black Stonefly Nymph

Detailed instructions for tying an Early Black Stonefly Nymph. This is part of a series of Tim Flagler's collaboration with Fly Tyer Magazine. Check out his article about the fly in the Spring 2022 issue of Fly Tyer Magazine:

Hook: Dai-Riki 280 size 18, 2X-long or similar.
Thread: UTC 70 Denier, black.
Antennae: Centipede Legs, mini, black.
Legs: Centipede Legs, mini, black.
Abdomen: Stretch Tubing, micro, black.
Wingcase: 6-8 pheasant tail fibers, chocolate brown.
Thorax: Australian possum, dark brown
