High Country Gems

This unplanned collaborative effort between myself and Bozeman, MT based photographer Pat Clayton www.fisheyeguyphotography.com took place on a recent hiking trip in the Greater Yellowstone region. We brought fishing gear, but never made a cast. Instead we spent a couple of days watching this incredible spawning ritual. After a full day of shooting above water stills, I decided to capture some above-water video to go along with Pat's underwater images. Pat's underwater trout photos are superb. These Cutthroat Trout were in the peak of the spawn, bold and showing all their colors. Pat has a deep appreciation for native species and the fragile environments they inhabit, as do I. Wild Cutthroat face a never-ending threat from competing species, hybridization, habitat loss and destruction, and climate change. Unfortunately, there's just not many places left like this. Enjoy! To see more underwater still images visit Pat's site at www.fisheyeguyphotography.com, or at https://www.facebook.com/fisheyeguyphotography/

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
