Hlíðarvatnspúpan

Here we will be tying the fly Hlíðarvatnspúpan by mr. Þór Nielsen. Þór was an Icelandic angler, well known for his famous patterns he designed. I reckon Killer is his most know pattern. However Hlíðarvatnspúpan reminds a little bit to the Watson's Fancy nymph version and therefor it's a great fly, specially for catching the Arctic char. The fly is named after Hlíðarvatn in Selvogur in south of Iceland, but it will of course work out just fine wherever you find Arctic char. The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing. The fly catches both brown arctic char and brown trout takes it too. It's simple to tie and totally worth keeping a few in your box when you go fishing.

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
