Here we will be tying the famous Icelandic pattern Rektor by Kolbeinn Grímsson. The Rektor fly has become like a relic among Icelandic anglers and patterns. It's indeed one of the most famous Icelandic patterns in the history of Icelandic fly fishing. Rektor is designed like 40-50 years back and was first fished in the Laxá in Mývatnssveit, in the north east region of Iceland. It's just about an hour away from Akureyri and Laxá is amazing area and know for its vast beauty of nature, bird life, vegetation, geology and everything you can think of. There are other flies by Kolbeinn that he designed for the area just like Hólmfríður for an example. The Laxá area holds exclusively brown trout so the Rektor is a brownie pattern. For tying the Rektor it's easier to have advanced skills as a fly tier. The pattern is beautiful and it's favourite fly for so many anglers over here.
