Bamboo

This is a trailer for a piece about Michigan bamboo rod maker Bob Summers. The piece covers a little of Bob's history as a rod maker, starting from his days with Paul Young but also focusing on his relationship with George Griffith (founder of TU) as they were fishing buddies for 25+ years on the AuSable.

"Summer" and the full version of "The Brothers Brown" will be special features on "The River" dvd...a full 2 hour feature on the past, present and future of the AuSable due for release April 2014/

Surprisingly, in an otherwise literature rich sport, there have been few quality fly-rod-building books. The ones that come readily to mind are AMATEUR RODMAKING, by Perry D. Frazer in 1914, A MASTER'S GUIDE TO BUILDING A BAMBOO FLY ROD, by Everett Garrison in 1977. Thus, when a book on fly rod building is published, it is greedily snapped up.
