Tan Spey Shrimp

Fishing in shallow water can be tricky, difficult and frustrating... The fly often catches the bottom or snags, but here the solution can be upside down flies. Weighted correctly, you can make the fly turn with the hook tip upwards, and avoid some of the obstacles normal flies would get hold of. In this video, Morten "Coastfly" Hansen demonstrates his bid for an effective shrimp imitation: Tan Spey Shrimp, for coastal fishing for sea trout. The combination of a heavy-duty bead, the long living hackle fibers and the upward-facing hook make this fly super effective.
