The Ball Peen Craw is a fly Jay Zimmerman developed after coming across the Hammerhead that I developed for Great Lakes Carp. His needs for fishing for carp in his area are different and the Hammerhead was too heavy and bulky but he really likes the structure and action of the fly. This is one aspect of fly tying that I love and that is that one persons solution (fly) inspires someone else to create something new to fit their needs. The Ball Peen Craw has become a staple for "spookier" carp and has also proven itself a very productive Smallmouth Bass fly. I think Mr. Zimmerman nailed it! --Enjoy
