Kevin's Biography

In having a Grandfather who was a avid fisherman, I was hooked at a early age. So...from my dad's handy craftsmanship, he made me a homemade vise to start tying with, so that set the stage for what turned out to be my greatest artistic passion ever. I had been a Flyfishing guide and outfitter, fly shop owner and a commercial flytyer for many moons as well as having the opportunity to teach the flytying classes at Eastern Oregon State College way back when. I had the honor to learn a lot of my tying techniques from the late great tyer, Mr. Al Troth of Dillon Mt. I had spent many long and late night hours watching over his shoulder, his form and artistic techniques that has lead me to where I am now. He had introduced me to a new level of tying that eventually landed me some tying jobs with some of the well known fly shops in West Yellowstone and Island Park. Since then, over the years I have had a lot of fun showing and teaching others the fine art of flytying. It was always a great feeling to come up with a new fly pattern that could outsmart the trout of the Blue Ribbon streams of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. I sure have enjoyed viewing the streamers tied by all the quality tyers that were in the Streamers 365 group and feel honored to among this group of bucktail tyers as well....... so the saga continues.

What an impressive collection! Each one of these streamers is a work of art. You are to be congratulated on your fine-tuned ability to create such masterpieces! (and we would have said that, even if we weren't your proud parents! ; ) Ken & Nancy Kirkelie

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
