At Rx Fly Fishing, we're always looking for a way to be "frugal fly tiers." A while ago, we found out about making rounded foam popper heads from nothing but a pair of foam flip-flop sandals. In this video, Jason takes you through the process of prepping the sandals, as well as cutting and shaping the foam popper head.

The person cutting the foam cyclinder from the glued flip flop should use a brass tube. These brass tubes are available in any size. You cut the brass tube the size needed, sharpen on edge and take the other end and place in rotary drill. You will be able to cut many popper bodies this way.
P.S. The brass tubing is available at any hardware store or handyman hardware store.

Ernesto,
As alway
Ernesto,
As always the positive man, huh?
But it makes sense to cut sandals. They are often much cheaper than the whole boards, and used sandals with broken soles or straps are thrown out anyway.
