Tight Lines
Feridun

Yahoo! I caught my first sea trout. First my wife caught one and then 15 minutes later I did. Although the fish was under 40 cm I'm very glad anyway. All thanks for your help.

Hi Frank,

I never did get the RX7+, I ended up getting a Dan Craft FT 905-4 and I can say that it is a real canon, I like to fish it with a 6wt line, and although it is rated as one of the fastest blanks on the market it has a very soft tip section and is a lot of fun to fish with.

Folks, I´m sad ´n sorry to have been missing that thing this year. Ole told me all about the very familiar and funny get-to-gether. And I´ll do all I can to hook in next year.

Regards and tight lines,

Frank

This pattern in black, is good too for large freshwater bass (largemouth), but don't forget large rubber legs (Madam X style) when tying the strips. A large hook i.e salt bait hook in 2/0 or 3/0 gives better hooking (you need to use a soft tubing connection as in the older model).

I am trying to make my cork handles smaller to fit my hand. T&T wants 25 bucks a pop to do this. Do I need a lathe? Or can I do it by hand as the handle shape is already there, I just need it smaller??
Thanks
Dave

Thanks Martin for getting the guys together again for another year. I did not manage to attend the first 2 days due to work, but i did manage to get there for some fishing on the sunday and caught 1 nice fish. I did not manage to meet everyone on the sunday I'm sorry to who i missed to say hi too.

Well hopefully we can get the dates early for next year so i can book this event to get time off well in adavance. Well i missed the Lithuania snaps/vodka this year, sorry Rolandis :P

Looking forward to next year.

Steve

Good evening,

Would you please be so nice and tell us the secret which reel it is?

Rgds. Frank

Good evening, Feridun,

Well, as far as I know I would say that both reel-types are consequent developed and unique concepts. I know that a lot of people went crazy about the Dom-Abs in Germany. In fact I like the straight design, but I think they are not that solid they should be. But an real alternative? Until now, no. I don´t know if you like the design of the Galvan Torque which is different but also unique. The discontinued Guideline Watergrip looks a little like that.

And the only alternative for the backwinder is to have one and then find someone like Megoff who is able to make a 1:1 counterpart.

Fantstic article and web site. I teach rod building classes here, and with permission, will use your article on signing a rod. My only question is what to you use when writing. I've tried some white paint from a model shop, and that wasn't the best. Suggestions?

Finally a website that finally gives step by step instructions for fly tying with good quality close-up pics.
I hope to tie Kai's Green Terror and try it salmon fishing.

Hi! I am new to this website and west coast fly fishing. I have fly fished before for trout only in Colorado & New Mexico. I just got my own fly fishing rig and I'm 200 steps from the back bay in Newport Beach, CA. I see mullet fish jump out of the water all evening long after work. I have been down the last two evenings with no fish. these fish are way too close to my home not to catch. I haven't fished any topwater flies at this point. any suggestions? thanks!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
