Dave,

Thanks for your comment. True enough that the wind adds authenticity, but it also adds a lot of noise and quite a bit of post production work for me. I have tried to keep the noise down by applying differerent filters and cutting out the worst parts. I hate doing that because time by the computer equals lost fishing time.

And I'm glad you liked the stomach growl... ;-) Next time you may be able to get into bed with me! Literally! I started recording the next podcast installment yesterday after I had laid down to sleep, sparked by a late night email about C&R. I will probably do the rest tomorrow or during the weekend by the water, and get it published as soon as I get the time to finish the mixing.

Martin,
I enjoy your podcasts very much. I've listened to all of them and look forward to each new one that comes out. Your latest was excellent. I really enjoy it when you record all of the sounds, wind included. More authentic that way. Glad to hear that you caught fish on this trip. I felt like I was there with you - stomach growl and all. :-)

This guy is going to be huge ! Some of the finest work I've ever seen !

Mike,

If you're talking the right side seen from the owner's (Jens) view and the side closest to the viewer, they are several but very similar patterns. The gray one is Magnus and the tan one is The Slaughter (Slagteren in Danish). Both are very similar - basically a dubbed body with a body hackle. Magnus uses a couple of hackle tips as a tail and The Slaughter uses a few straws of flash. I can't recognize the olive fly, but I can inquire.

Martin

Nice Pike, like the dark colors. It's a fairly large one isn't it?
Luckily the weather overhere isn't that bad at the moment, nice and clear skies with night frost and good temperatures during the daytime. Fortunately I don't have to start wearing any gloves yet.
Tomorrow I'll go for pike again, or many perch. Still haven't decided yet.

Hi What do you call the fly on the right side of the fly box? I am alway looking for new flys to try on Michigan Steelhead. What materials do you use for this fly.

Hi Brian
Nice to see a sign of life from you, obviously your doing well!

The pikefishing in sweden is good at the time but i do aswell as you long a bit for the trouts, although freshwater crocs aint a bad substitute!

The gear i use is a soft #10 Vision 3zone kitted with a coma real and a cut down #11 wf line (floater). My leader of choice is hard monofilament 1,00mm and the flies is dustwipe devievers tied on 4/0 Swier hooks (barbless!)

Sorry for a bit of lousy pictures but i was f**king freezing my fingers of!

Growing up in Florida I am well acquainted with the mullet. We have both "black" and "silver" mullet. The blacks grow considerably larger but both are great table fare. I konw a lot of the older folks catch them on cane poles with corn for bait, chumming with oats or catfood. My fishing buddies and I would use castnets like you see natives in the islands.(this is legal with a 50 fish per person limit) Now that i have begun flyfishing I would love to try to take one on a fly and will let my old friends know about this "new" way of catching them.

Yep, I could also start telling stories about bad moves.... I only hope fish are capable of bad moves also :)))

Sunshine, calm water, crowded....time for a walk, or perhaps for a swim - I could not resist and took one (yep, a swim, in my waders) :D

Sometimes it's o.K. with me to fish in a group of other fisherman, but I definetely prefer to fish in a small group or - from time to time - fishing alone.

To be acompaniet by 12 guys fishing the same spot is to much.

In this case I try to avoid the crowd by getting up very early in the morning - enjoying the silence, the sunrise, the nature and sometimes a good fish.

[quote:38eb6e1b6c="vanuz"]I was out fishing last weekend. I counted 12 fishermen stretched along the coast of Hornbeak, North Sealand. I had to fight to get a place to fish.[/quote:38eb6e1b6c]

Terrible thing about easily accessible places and lazy anglers... I was on the north coast too, and people were shoulder to shoulder. I have a very hard time fishing places like that - when I'm not on a GFF Summit that is! ;-)

Mr. Dyer's review of Bodo's book refers to MSW fish on the Kedgwick River. Can you explain what that means, thanks. I fished the Kedgwick a few times and I don't believe we have met, but I would be interested in swapping tales.

>>>>What do you use for pike fishing? <<<<

I don't get to go Pike fishing around here. For big Pike and Pickerel up north I used my old guitar strings for leaders. I would cut and wrap a four inch leader out of the unwound strings. The best fly I used was a long yellow maribou. Pickerel killed it.

We have Tiger Muskies in the rivers around DC and there are a few lakes with real Muskies. They are tough to fish for and I have no expirience with them. Wish me luck. Their time of year is here and I am going to try and get me one or two.

I was out fishing last weekend. I counted 12 fishermen stretched along the coast of Hornbeak, North Sealand. I had to fight to get a place to fish. Nice weather, too nice I would say. I got away with a small seatrout, while the others were just splashing the water. :D

Hey Vanuz,

nice picture, but I've got some of you, too.

Were you out fishing since our summit?

Kindly

Kai

Raymond,

If you want a cone on a tube fly you can follow the instructions in this tube fly article. On a hook you slide it over the hook bend, but need to make sure that the hook is wide gaped enough to accomodate a cone, which again has to be open enough to pass.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
