I saw this review and some others, and these two vices were on the top places,so I decided to ask for yours all opinion
Thank you for your advice Joe :)
The Griffin Blackfoot Mongoose was reviewed here http://www.flyfishohio.com/Vise%20Review%201/so_many_vises.htm None of the vises examined in the review exceeded $150, so they are a step - or several - below what is shown in this thread. That said I think you'll find the Mongoose cam to be a very nice vice. I'd also suggest the Peak as a good, affordable alternative.

Hello again :)
I want to buy new tying vice and have a dilemma now :?
Maybe some of you have one of this:
http://www.dyna-king.com/flyvise_dtl.asp?itemval=5&pv=0&pid=005
http://www.griffinenterprisesinc.com/vises.html (second from the top) :?:
Or maybe one of yours have other suggestions for the similar price (200-230$) :?:
Thank you :)
beautiful trout, of where it is ?
... greetings of Chile

@ all ... I like the idea of Kasper in regard of the summit flybox, would be a real nice piece to remember or to be used as samples for your own tying experiments or just good for fishing or or or...
@ Jesper: Can understand your point but until September 21st is quite some time left. Try to kick yourself. I believe there is also no need for everybody to tie his most complicated favourite - I assume everybody has at least two or three.
Regards,
Ole
Kasper,
great idea, so I'm in. I think I'll have to start tying right now, because of my hollydays.
Sweden and Denmark, please keep that in mind!
Kai
Hello Martin, hello Ripley. Thanks for your comments. The question regarding "sea trouts" in Gruensee lake is a classical vocabulary mistake. Of course you find "lake trout" in Gruensee lake and no "sea trout". The German translation for "lake trout" is "Seeforelle" and so I just mixed things up. I apologize for this!
Yes, and fly fishing with a helmet is an interesting experience!
My special thanks goes out to Martin Joergensen who has made his article look great. Thanks again! Tobias
Frank C,
You can certainly use a braided leader! In that case you will need a loop at the end of your fly line to attach the loop on the leader to. These are easy to make either by splicing the fly line or by attaching a braided loop.
Martin
can you use a braided leader? Like Power Pro or Suffix Braid in a really light gauge? I just got my first fly rod and will be setting it up tomorrow. I found your info quite useful, thanks.
I am trying to figure out what shooting head lenght I need for my new 13' # 8 Scott ARC.
What do you recommend? Unfortunately I'm a novice two hander after 40 yrs. of fishing.
Good idea to tie them this way, I have spend too much time lately on the tying bench so I have to hold back a little before I try it.
I am going to do a float trip in Alaska mid of July, that is in connection with a business trip and I decided it late, so I had to tie a lot of pacific salmon flies. My better half has already asked the question "do you now have enough flies".
I have still taken a few soft hacles from the stock and put them in the box for grayling and rainbows. We'll see what happens.

Summit 2007 Flyswap sounds a great idea to me, though we don't catch sea-trout in the sea here so its difficult to have a favourite. However, I'll think of something x21 (or however many). Maybe tie you all a bass-fly!
Les
That's going to be a lot of flies, 21 people and counting, it's the same amount of flies i use in a 3 year period. It's my luck that i've got a new favorite fly ;o)
Kidding aside i'll have to pass on this otherwise great idea, because i haven't tied so many flies (alltogether) the last two years, and i'm a bit to lazy to sit my a.. down and tie 25 dark honeys :o) it will take two much af my mullet fishing time. :o)
Looking forward to seeing you all on Fyn.
Regards Jesper
Kasper.
I'm in on that one, I have a personal favourite: a magnus with some blue dubbing in the body and a purple teal front-hackle. I've caught my last several Seatrouts on that fly (very few exceptions) all through winter and up until a couple of weeks ago.
Anybody else in on this one?
-Jari
Can you please tell me how and the material used to make your rubber band construction?
Thank you for your time,
~Mark
Kai,
This is totally untrue.
If the design of your fly has leaked out is was not through this source, as I have not and would not sell details of our secret fish-seeking missile - except for a very large sum of money. Or, perhaps, a Sage rod.
Mercifully - now the secret is out - this model is obsolete, as you have now tied up version V26.412.007. I should have the printed circuit boards ready for the next production run by Sunday.
Looking forward to trying it out in September.
Les
GFF '07 fly box.
There's a promotional item. Great idea. Should we get that going?
Each participant ties his or her favourite fly and hand them out.
What about T-shirts?
Kasper's full of ideas.
Rip
I managed to get a hold of the secret Kai fly.
This an actual copy of the fly that Kai used and Kai is pictured holding and priming the fly.
Les is seen observing (right) and is said to have "sold" a blueprint of the fly to an unknown source.
Investigations are currently being carried to find out if this fly named "GFF '06" will be used to further Kai's catch rating at the next GFF summit.
Les refused to comment.

Hi Kasper,
Sounds like a good idea, I have already tied up a few for Ripley and Steve, they will have to try them on thier friday trip.
( I dont believe they will do as well as last year)

ALARM...
Am I not mistaken, but are those flies attached to some sort of propeller blades?
I have some questions...
Is Kai hoping to launch them or fire them?
Are they homing flies or wire guided?
What is the range?
Do they come with full safety's? We wouldn't want the flies coming back at us?
The plot thickens...
ALARM...

… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
