Life is good

Now, this is something! Norwegian Christian Figenschou and his friends Dariusz and Julem's fabulous pictures of bonefishing and their attitude towards fishing fit perfectly into the GFF bonefishing theme.

During the research phase for this bonefish theme I spent quite a lot of time surfing the web—a thing that I usually don't do much as a matter of fact. I produce web content rather than consume it.

Never the less I was surfing, and the theme was the elusive ghost.
Links linking to pages linking on-and-on finally linked to something with substance: Christian Figenschou's homepage. Now, that was something! Plenty of pictures and even a couple of really great original stories on bonefishing. And first of all an attitude towards fishing, which fit perfectly into this theme. Just look at the picture to the right here.

I immediately contacted Christian, and we agreed that I could use some of his numerous pictures for a gallery-type story for the theme. This is it. The text is mine, the captions are a mix and the pictures are Christian's and his friends'.

The flats

The flats create an amazing and fascinating world. These areas of seemingly endless shallow water, which are still so abundant with food for the bonefish.

The space

Soooo much headroom...

The hunt

Once you get the grip, scouting for bonefish turns from frustration to a thrilling game. Tailers, cruisers, schoolers—they all get your heart working.

The rush

The take and the first run is among the things, which make bonefishing a great rush.

The catch

These fish are just beautiful. Yet they do look a bit dumbstruck when you lift them from the water. Of course they have all the reason in the world to do so, but still: large eyes and rounded, pursed lips enhances the impression.

The release

It's always great letting a fish go—even though your hands are quite slimed afterwards.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
