Smoky Mountain Forktail

No comments yet

I was remembering some great fishing blogs I used to love reading. One was called Small Stream Reflections. Alan Petrucci the author has since passed away but the blog is still available to read. Alan was a huge brook trout fan and fished for brook trout around his home but also traveled to many places to fish for them as well. One such place was the Smoky Mountains. On one such trip he saw a picture of a fly called the Smoky Mountain Forktail. He recreated the fly and tried it in many variants with much success for both brook trout and wild browns. His posts about this fly inspired me to give it a go.

Here is a link to one of his blog posts on this pattern.

Enjoy Thank you!

We miss you Alan!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
