I own all three versions of the Risen Genesis fly rod. The 7'6" 3wt, the 9' 5wt and the 9' 8wt. All of them fish amazingly for the cost. It is really hard to find a quality fly rod under $100, but thats what these are. And even better with the discount I got you guys. 15% off of everything in their store the first order with the code McFly at checkout.
While this rod is not perfect, it checks all the right boxes for me. Its lightweight to cast, smooth to cast, strong enough to handle fish, ultra fast action for casting streamers and other wind resistant flies a long distance (if that is what your looking for) and its durable. This is a great all around rod, and one I would be happy to pay double, or even triple for. However at just around $100, its worth much more than that in my opinion. The only things that would differentiate this rod from some ultra high end rods is the quality of the cork, and the single lock reel seat. But both are still great quality and very functional. I have not had any issues with the reel seat coming undone. And the cork has held up great. So I can confidently say I would choose to fish this rod over many $400+ rods out there.
Go to www.risenfly.com to pick up one of these rods. They have great rods and reels, and also line, fly tying hooks and beads, and other accessories on their shop. Great source for great quality gear at reasonable prices. Everything they sell is a good deal.
