Original Vintage 1958-1962 Taupo.
The Hardy Perfect Taupo was one of the shortest runs and now fairly desirable fly reel. Only being in production for four years (1958-62) and have such a high demand, Hardy re-released the Taupo Perfect in 2011/12 and is still in production.
The Hardy Taupo Perfect is a 3 7/8 in fly reel that was designed to have width between trout and salmon sizes. The design originated for use in New Zealand where the large rainbow and brown trout required extra backing. The drag is a click and pawl system.
Today the Hardy Perfect Taupo is one of the rarest and most desirable post-war vintage fly reels. It is sized perfect for heavy switch rods as well as light and medium weight sepy rods.
