Hunting Southern Brookies is a film about a fly fishing trip to the Cherokee Mountains. When we got word of wild brook trout in a small stream up the mountain off the main river we drove off road up the mountain and hiked several miles off trail into the woods in search of this tiny stream full of wild brookies. We fished several areas of the river before going up the mountain and no where we had fished before compared to the beauty of this stream. We truly took in what fly fishing is all about, we were immersed in nature with views and sights unlike anything around. The idea of shooting a short Instagram video to document some highlights of the trip quickly turned into a short film idea and we spent the weekend shooting what has now won a top ten award in the Outdoor Film Festival.
