G'day Ron... How'z things up there in phrozen Maineiac Land?!
Thanks for the kind words... The eyez notion solved several challenges and continues to serve me well... I love when a plan comes together!
Regarding "UV glue"... I've thoroughly tested the Tuffleye, CCG, and Bug-Bond...
I've also used the Loon Knot Sense and Wader Patch and they perform nicely but I haven't tried Loon at the tying station...
Tuffleye FLEX and Bug-Bond hold a highly praised and special place on my list of cutting edge innovative tying tools...
I've used the last of my CCG and won't be returning for any more.
Haven't used epoxy in ages and don't miss is at all... not even a little bit... the Acrylic evolution is amazing!
Take care and stay warm...

Parts 1 2 & 3 of the Surf and Inshore Fishing videos are the best videos on GFF. Great filming and beautiful and evocative soundtrack - and I wish we had fishing as good as that here in Wales.

I have found that American Fishing Wire's Surflon Micro Supreme plastic coated stainless steel wire is an excellent leader for pike and other toothy fish. It can be tied using palomar , clinch, or albright knots.
I have found that the 6 kg. test is flexible enough to give any fly excellent action. The only drawback is the cost of$19.99 for five meters .

The Rotterdam show was a great success, in spite of the harsh winter conditions (snow, slippery roads).

This is one of the simplest explanations of the Petitjean tool I have seen. As good as a video! Great description coupled with the great photos. Keep up the good work!

Interesting affect - use sili skin pearlescent back and then mark it... It is brown with some pearly shine.. sort of like caddis goo shine from the secretions if held up to the sun.

The Rotterdam show was a big success last evening.
Despite the bad winter conditions nearly all of the 125 people enjoyed the event.

OHH Good !!!!! Because the Scandinavians like to eat a fish!! Almost as Japanese ...
I understand, but I can not kill any more wild fish, only those bred in captivity ....

I have a very successful Flying Ant and Termite Pattern tied this very same way and is coated with Super Glue . On hooks smaller than size 16 only the Gastor is represented in the forming of the body and yes remarkably the wing is very durable . This pattern was a result of a conversation that I had with Gary LaFontaine regarding the use of this type
of foam on his Bubblehead . I have experimented with the addition of legs and found that they pleased me more than the fish .

What a nice Muddler variation. I will definitely try this. Muddlers are my favorite smallmouth streamers. I fish them unweighted with a sinking tip line. Very effective!

Pavel Adamovski. Very clear and informed article. I was using method similar to it as mentioned here-in as a result of "Hatches" tying techniques [Caucci&Nastasi] in the late 60's. Was in the middle of the pool catching fish right next to me. Never moved from the spot. By the way, how about plastic bubble blowing kits? The comments are great stuf.

Tim,

That's a very neat box and much more advanced than Jan Ole's and my tying boards... which still draw a lot of attention and traffic, so people must find them useful. Yours is a much more complete piece of furniture, though. Nice!

Martin

Hi Martin,
thank for writing about that great fly and also the book of Kelly, I'll order it.
do you ever weight this fly, or do you use a sinking line? I am asking about sea trout fishing in the Baltic sea.

Best regards

Jan

Ernesto,

Yes, C&R exists in Scandinavia! Of course we release fish, but we also keep one and eat it sometimes. If there's enough fish in the water no harm is done to the population--just to the poor fish being killed and eaten.

Too bad the show wasn't sold out. Our show in Rotterdam is sold out!
Only a few days left.

Gregg,

great to know, that GFF helps you through your down time. There is nothing like a few weeks off at the tying desk.

Thanks for your comments,
Kasper

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
