Raoul Kempkes is a German angler whose eyes are primarily fixed on local grayling and Baltic sea trout
My name is Raoul Kempkes and I live in the friendliest city in Germany: Cologne!
I began fly fishing about 16 years ago when I watched the film “A river runs through it”. As an autodidact I learned fly casting and tying by myself with the help of books and videos. Together with my brother Rouven we began traveling to some of the nicest fishing areas in Europe. During the recent years we have fished in Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Slovenia and entire Germany.
Over the years I got fascinated by two major targets: big grayling and Baltic sea trout! This is why I fish for grayling on weekends and try to have two or three weeks of coastal fishing in the year. My favorite fishing areas are the “Sauerland” in western Germany and the south Swedish coast.
