Turmeric Dye Per Cutcliffe - Hare and Rabbit
This is a quick little video on how I dyed some Hare fur and Rabbit fur using Cutcliffe's method. He advocates also dyeing a Hare's Mask which I have done as well.
Datus Proper's Coch-y-Bondhu
The Coch-y-Bondhu is a very old pattern and goes by many names and many variations on the theme...from Marlow Buzz, Peacock Palmer, "Clocks", etc They are all beetle patterns.
Crow Fly - Smoky Mountain Blackbird
Following up on my prior video on the Smoky Mountain Forktail from the blog Small Stream Reflections, I was reminded that another blog I loved by Neil Norman called An Online Soft Hackle Pattern Bo
Smoky Mountain Forktail
I was remembering some great fishing blogs I used to love reading. One was called Small Stream Reflections.
Rooster Hackle - Then and Now - Shape - Part 2
This is a video talking about rooster hackle shape and showing some excellent hackles from 1830s until the present day.

Delaware Adams
Catskill Dry Fly Tied Dette Method. I joined the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild this past year and at one of their Zoom tying sessions, they went over this fly pattern.
Orange Quill
This is GEM Skues' Orange Quill. Skues used this pattern for the BWO on the Itchen and other chalk streams. He confesses he has no idea why it works.
Rooster Hackle - Then and Now - Colors
A look at rooster hackle and the names for various colors. Throughout history the names to describe different colors and patterns of hackle have changed, Among different authors also the definitions...
Hare Flax Dubbing - Cutcliffe’s Method
Hare flax or Hare fur dubbing from the back of a wild hare. Not the mask. This is an extremely useful fur and lot’s of parts to be harvested to create different shades.
Clyde Style: Webster and Reid - Upright winged Wets
After resisting a video on Clyde style flies for a while I decided to give it a go. The main reason for resistance is that I have no practical experience with these flies.
La Loue - Rose Champagne Fly
This is Gerard de Chamberet’s La Loue or what was first called Le Rose. It was in a series of grayling flies called La Loue which later just became the name of this pattern.
Poil de Lièvre - Ragot family

Ruz-Du
This is a stiff hackle wet French pattern tied based on the listing in Jean-Paul Pequegnot’s book “French Fishing Flies”
Concher
This is an unusual fly among Bergman’s Wet Flies in “Trout”. His recipe calls for a floss wing and beard. In J. Edson Leonard it is a quill wing with green and a center stripe of red.
Favorite of Carrère
This pattern is very similar to the English pattern the Red Tag.
We don't know if Carrere was aware of the English pattern or came up with this on his own. The major difference is in the hackle wh...
Incomparable
This is my tying of Guy Plas’ Incomparable pattern. I learned about this fly from Jean-Paul Pequegnot’s book “French Fishing Flies”.
Plover Spider
This pattern is one of many from Austin Ridsdale’s Journal 1931 (North Country Spider). A photo of a few pages of this journal were shared online by Robert Smith.
Splitsville Caddis/Foam Front End Loader
Thanks for tuning into this chaos! So, I should state for the record a few things about my fishing...I almost exclusively fish a "mono rig" in what could be called a "tightline" method.
Cutcliffe #X
Thanks for tuning in.
This is HC Cutcliffe's number 10 pattern. It is the only one with a thread body and a resemblance to the silk bodied flies of the North Country tradition but instead of a sof...
March Brown Male UK (Bergman)
I tied this fly for the Bergman Facebook group as it is March 2024's Fly of the Month.
It was my first time tying the fly and it is far from perfect but a fun tie and a cool little pattern. I hav...
Cutcliffe III
Thank you for tuning in. This is a super easy fly with an unusual dubbing. My good friend @thetroutconjurer and fellow Cutcliffe fan was able to acquire some fur from Devon cattle.
Leisenring’s Pale Watery Dun Wingless
This is #10 of Leisenring’s 12 Favorite Patterns from “The Art of Tying The Wet Fly”
