Flies for garfish
Flies for garfish

Kronborg tip
An old royal castle placed right on the beach in the 'corner' between the east and the north coast of Sjaelland offering some really excellent fishing in one of the most productive coastal stretches on Sjaelland. The conditions can be rough when it's windy and the water can become dirty, but it clears up quickly when the wind comes down. Fishable in most winds apart from harder winds from straight north to straight east. The Kronborg tip can be very busy during the garfish season where people will be standing shoulder to shoulder along the whole beach, fighting for space and fish.
Northern Harbor, beach
A small piece of beach at the end of Kattegatvej to the west, just south of the marina. Easy access and parking both to the left and to the right of the marina. Can be fished from the beach. Good in light winds from all directions apart from north-west and western ones. From the parking in the marina there is also access to the northern stone pier, where you can fish from the boulders.
Amager South Beach
A very easily accessible area with access to coastal fishing in Oeresund south of Amager. The water is pretty shallow close to the beach, but wading is easy and you can get out to the deeper water and the bands of darker bottom with weed and rocks. You can walk along the beach (or in the water) to both sides. To you right (west) is Sovang Strand and further round the tip is Kongelunden. To the left you move in towards the city of Dragor.
Roskilde Fjord
A large fjord system stretching from the north coast of Sjaelland down to the city of Roskilde. Easily accessible many places by car or public transport, and approachable from cities Roskilde, Jyllinge and Frederikssund riding a bike. The fjord is brackish and known for its cold season fishing and even has good winter fishing when there is no ice. In the garfish season (May and June) there's a great abundance of these slim fish, and in the summer and autumn you can sometimes find large schools of mullet grazing in the warm water of the fjord.
Isefjord
This large fjord system is a popular and productive fishing location with a lot of easily accessible spots. The fjord is particularly popular in the cold season where the sea trout will be on their way to or from migration.
Doh!
Dubbing On a Hook! Simple as that! Use orange or red and you have the simplest and easiest garfish fly available. No tail, no flash, no rib.
Orange Chillimps
One of my early favorites for garfish, but complex beyond what's needed. Tail, hackle, rib can be left out, and the fly will still work.
BHD Garfish Fly
This was one of the first flies I tied specifically for garfish, and still one that I like a lot. It's a simple variation of the Big Hole Demon.
Tryggelev Terror
A small and discrete sea trout fly, which has shown its ability to catch in the autumn.
Grey Fred
Danish name: Grå Frede. A versatile fly for sea trout in salt water - very popular in Denmark.
