Mobuto

Here we will be tying the fly Mobuto but the pattern became legendary in Iceland late in last century. This fly the Mobuto is originally tied by mr. Skúli Kristinsson and he told me he used smoky coloured swannudaze for the body. Now a days most people just just black vinyl rib for the body. There are few versions of the fly tied by other tiers but it's right to mention that Skúli was the first person to tie the Mobuto fly. There are many variations of this fly but the one we'll be tying is from the book Veiðiflugur Íslands (e. Fishing flies of Iceland). In that book Einar Páll is listed as the author of the fly. However on the web www.fos.is, mr. Skúli Kristinsson is listed the author. I'm not sure who came up with the pattern first but it doesn't matter really since it's a great fly. The Mobuto is an great option for both stream and lake fishing. The fly catches both brown trout and arctic char. Simple to tie and totally worth keeping a few in your box when you go fishing. My teachers, both Jón Pedersen made a Mobuto pattern that can be found on my channel under the name JP Mobuto. Jón Sigurðsson made also a Mobuto pattern that he never published and I will make a video on that Mobuto here on the channel. The only thing I can say abut this pattern is that I highly recommend it!

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
