Square Tail Marabou Deceiver
The Square Tail Marabou Deceiver is a great baitfish imitation. Its got a wide profile, and moves nicely in the water due to the marabou.
Super Schminnow
Is it a shrimp, or a minnow? The Schminnow was originally created by Norm Zeigler to fish snook on the small islands off of Florida.
Stay Hungry
At lest the fish will seem that way. Great fly pattern!
The Stay Hungry fly is one of my favorite flies to fish for striper in the north west. Here, the striper like fast moving flies, that have lo...
Preparing and selecting hackle feathers for streamers
While there is much more to know about hackle, I am focusing on the simple stuff, with selecting hackle feathers off of a cape for use in a streamer tails, wings and as lateral lines.
Clouser Minnow
The Clouser minnow was originally created back in the mid 80's by Bob Clouser, a legendary fly tier, instructor and fisherman.
Preparing Bucktail
Another quick video on tips and tricks. Everyone that ties regularly knows how to tie in buck tail, and prepare it properly, however those who are new into fly tying might not know the proper techniq...
Don't drop another dumbbell again!
Dumbbell eyes can be tricky to tie in, and can tend to spin on the hook if not tied in correctly. But with proper technique, you can tie them in easily and securely.
Doc Halls Tailing Shrimp
Doc halls tailing shrimp was designed specifically to fish the flats for bonefish by Daniel "doc" Hall.
Borski's Redfish Slider
Borski's Redfish Slider's are great flies for redfish and seatrout. The most common inshore forage for the gulf fish is brown shrimp. This fly mimics the brown shrimp wonderfully.
Surf Candy
Surf Candies are a great fly for a subtle presentation. These mimic a small transparent fish very well.
Rabbit Flesh Fly
The flesh fly is probably one of the easiest flies to tie. Great for a beginner, but a fly that all seasoned fly tiers and fishers should have in their box when fishing still water.
The Mc Shrimp
I use this fly to fish for redfish in the flats down in south Texas. It mimics a brown shrimp really well. Its a cross between a more realistic shrimp pattern and a crazy charlie.
Crazy Charlie with Mono Wrap
Crazy Charlies were created to fish the flats for bonefish and any other fish that eats shrimp in the flats. A great fly and super easy to tie.
Standing Shrimp
Standing shrimp are great for flats fishing bonefish. They have realistic looking eyes, and lots of movement with the rubber legs.
Mc. Mullet
The Mc. Mullet is a saltwater fly pattern that I created in efforts to mimic mullet in the gulf. Its not a difficult fly to tie, and can be tied rather quickly once you get the hang of it.
Synthetic Glass Minnow
Glass minnows are a light weight and easy to cast fly. They are also very easy to tie. Great flies for mimicking small fry, or see through fish like glass minnows.
Monster Bugger
This fly tying tutorial video is going to show you how to tie a great bass fly. This streamer fly moves a lot of water and really is something bass go for. It can be used for other fish as well.
Red and White Seaducer
The Seaducer is a very popular streamer fly for freshwater bass fisherman. Its one of the oldest bass flies, and has really stood the test of time.
Spawning Mantis Shrimp
The spawning mantis shrimp fly is a great fly for fishing bonefish, redfish, and seatrout in the flats. It has the ability to imitate both shrimp and crab.
Merkin Crab
Great fly for Permit, I also use it for redfish and other fish that like to eat crab. Most crabs are difficult to tie, this tends to be a little easier than some of the other crab patterns in my opin...
Salty Krystal Flash Shrimp
This is a pattern that I created from a common shrimp pattern called "krystal flash shrimp". I changed it a bit to make it work for the conditions I fish it in south Texas along the gulf for redfish ...
Mc Bunker
This fly is great for mimicking peanut bunker fish or herring for saltwater fly fishing, and can mimic shad or shiner in freshwater.
